Surrounded by madness and perversion while existing in these sunless
cemeteries, they want us to stay stagnant as we sit and dwell between steel and
stone, 50 it's important that we try to surround ourselves with those who keep
the fire burning in their hearts, while trying to ignite the minds of the imprisoned
and the oppressed, and we must believe that there’s more to lfe than this
miserable existence.
We live this artificial ife with our backs against the wall, in a place where we've
come to know loneliness; learning the lessons of pain; while becoming comrades
of struggle. Some of us will never make it out if here alive, and some will end up
fosing their minds in here, but nevertheless we stil strive for truth and
knawledge, we strive for feal human connection and a meaningful life, and we.
strive for these things with true, radical passion, and with the understanding
trat we are against ail odds. For some, life 1s cheap, meaningless and prefty
much over, people like that can be helped, until they choose to alleviate
themselves from the path of self-destruction. But for those who keep resistance
e nearts, we never stop striving and we never give up, because there’s.
ething inside us that fet us know that Ife and freedom and truth is
something worth fighting for
Every time we wake up and open our eyes to a new day. that’s an act of
resistance, because they don't care if we wake up or not. and some don't want

What To Do With A Zine
Everybody should always have at least one pen in their pocket
at all times. Also, a notebook or pieces of paper should be
placed, so they are quickly available.
Ever had a really good idea, or thought or heard something
funny or profound? Sometimes someone is willing to provide
important contact information. You may have something
important you want to say to somebody. Prepping yourself with
pen & paper is a real good way to help accomplish that later.
Al these tidbits of information can be expanded upon or placed
in their proper piace (like an address book or in a future poem,
essay) later. Sometimes, you have a real good idea that's clear in
your mind, like when you're just waking up or something, like a
scene fiom a dream or a sudden burst of insight. If itis not written
down, it could very well be lost in the chaos of the day. You can't
rely on your memory on these fleeting, though potentially,
profound thoughts. A good written piece, often takes time to
“percolate” in your brain. So, to have these ongoing reference
points and reminders, helps you get to the point where you will set
down and create a fully brewed piece of writing. / likes my coffee!
Now, getting back to zines, the truth about them is like 3,
everything else in this warped society — it
commonly held belief. Most people who see a zine for the first
time, dismiss it as useless and worthless. If it doesn't have a hard
or fancy cover, a hefty price tag or a bar code, what ‘good" could it
be, right?
The rule of thumb on written material is this — the cheaper the
publication, the better it might be. All my zines are “free” and
they're among the best written tracts you can have. For, their
whole purpose is liberation education. Some free pamphlets are
just religious tracts that always report the same message —
believe this or that, so as to avoid eternal damnation. Not much
there.
The most expensive books are college textbooks, doctoral
dissertations and so forth. They're referenced, indexed and
footnoted to death. Page for page, they are about as far removed
from peoples’ lives and struggles as you can get.
Even just zines are like that. You've seen my zines — killer
Zines for free that the authorities freak out about and the
mainstream zines, which cost more & more the glossier they get &
the more focus on mere entertainment and away from real
development, insight and revolution. A lot of stuffis just pointiess
drivel. Take People magazine, for example. It's a high-production
deal, paid writers, photographers, etc. It costs a pretty penny, but
its content is trite garbage, celeb shit, and you wouldn't even want
to wipe your ass with it, if you could possibly help itt
So, the trick is to find that person who (such as myself) is
driven by selflessness, purposefulness and a burning desire to
unleash the talents and energies of the slumbering, oppressed
masses. That's where the powerfully written and transforming
writing is coordinated and thus, emanates from.
So you now have a bit of this wonderful stuff in your hands, as
‘evidenced by you reading this piece from this zine, right now.
OK. Say you've got a copy of the awesome trilogy — Last Act
of the Circus Animals. First off, you're one lucky Mutha (smile*)
that | sent it to you & it got past the trolls. A lot of other guys are
gonna want to read it, too, once they catch wind of it.
First off, give itits just due. Accord it your complete attention
and concentration. Don'tjust flip through it and just jive around.
Read it, cover to cover, to get the initial ull effect. Now you
realize what a powerful creation these two anarchist prisoners
have bequeathed to you. | could write a whole book about these
two brilliant A's, what has happened to them since, how this came
to fruition, who all helped and so on. It did not just fall out of the
sky into your trembiing hands! A lot of biood, sweat and years of
tears are poured into each and every page. Three other prisoners
from throughout the archipelago drew the graphics for it. People
suffered, struggled and paid harsh penatties for having the
courage and synthesized genius to provide these thrilling rapid-
fire, insightful-infused scenes. So keep that in mind.
Its a big, important responsibiiity that you now have. The goal
is to spread this modem-day, classic of insurectional lterature to
as many brothers and sisters, inside and out, as possible. And,
get them to do the same damn thing. For, it's chain-reaction time,
Brother! See, the beauty of the real written deal is that its power
s at 100% potency every time someone reads it!
The autnorities know all this and it's why they spend so many
trllions of dollars on disinformation campaigns, acquiescence
education, goon squads, boards, trolls in the mailroom, etc., etc.
They are brainwashed functionaries in a racist, intemational slave-
trade system. They are programmed to squash any and all efforts
meant to help empower and educate their slaves, be they
inmates, wage-slaves, grunts or whatever. They have known ever
since the Mayflower, that to keep their slaves quietly siaving, they
must be stripped of the knowledge of their past, present and
future, The truth is revolutionary because the reality of
ensiavement is human evil and as John Brown said, “You must kil
it to get to the point where you overcome fear, ignorance,
lethargy to have the where with all to function effectively, you must
be “armed" with the full knowledge (and use) of self and a keen
understanding of the reality around you. For, once you leam the
truth, your natural humanity kicks in, working in tandem with your
developing consciousness to formulate plans, make proper,
fented decisions, etc.
OK, back to the zine. You got a real rush readin’ tat sucker,
didn'tyal? | know | did (smile") Now, | hesitate to recommend
this next piece of advice, because I'm 5o overwhelmed as it s, but
that's a testament that what I'm doing is definitely the right thing to
do and that's a real good thing!
‘Secure a copy and get another one. Send a copy to someone
you know on the *outs” who has their head screwed on straight (1
know, that's a long shot proposition!) Get them to make copies.
Make copies any way you can. Yeah, you can ask me for another
copy & tell others to do the same. But, make a full-bore effort to
help me do allthis. Send stamps, M.O.s (to me) & impress upon
others the importance of doing it, too. Let's make this genuine
not mooch aid, kapeeche? After all its not just
printing and mailing costs involved, here. Who do you think
supports these prisoner writers & artists when they get slammed
into the control units? or spit back out onto the streets and even
(sometimes) rearrested???
Take notes, separately in a notebook. Summarize important
ideas and react on paper to them. Do you agree with what has
been written? Disagree? How does it relate to what you are
experiencing or inteflectually perceive things to be? Wiite letters
1o the publisher.
Talk to others about it. Read passages aloud to them and
show them the cool graphics. Better yet, get a itle listening crew
together and have the dude with the boldest, clearest, most
ssionate voice, read it! Infuse that incredible courage & savior-
these writers laid on you, into the tortured sous of these
thirsty and all too-unloved young Brothers! Help make them into
strong M-E-! It's up to us to help them become their own true
selves — and only us! One, two many Malcolm X's!
Build from that. Ask the poets, writers and artists (o step it up
and present what they've got. Put a zine together yourself 8/or
send it to me, in whatever state of completion you can manage to
bring itto.
Get pro-active with this shit! “Become the media” yourself and
create the Revolution! There's always way more to ffe than
whatever you think it s, now! The farther you go with all this, the
higher the caliber will be of the teachers, mentors and comrades
you'l have to work with. Don'tlet thase jagoffs in their jackboots
and their two-bit hick “philosophy” distract you!
We've a world to win, Brothers and Sisters! And it starts with
an innocent little pamphiet and the indomitable desire for freedom
and the emerging will to see to it that justice is done that fives in
each and every one of us. The diffuse light we all project can be
focused into laser beam intensity — and used for proper effect It

our gifts to.
